There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gambling is not allowed. Eight casinos are established in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many conveniences on top of the casino, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
