There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel complex that features a number of luxuries aside from the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
